Save Baby Elmah from HIE – His Life Depends on Us

Baby Elmah needs your help now
Your donation can prevent lifelong disabilities
Baby Elmah was born with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), a condition caused by oxygen deprivation to the brain during birth. He needs specialized cooling therapy and intensive care to prevent permanent brain damage. His parents are devastated, watching their newborn struggle while being unable to afford the treatment that could save him.
Elmah's Story
Elmah was born just two weeks ago after a difficult delivery. During birth, he experienced oxygen deprivation, resulting in a diagnosis of Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE). This serious condition can lead to permanent brain damage or even death if not treated promptly with specialized care.
The first 72 hours after birth are critical for babies with HIE, and Elmah received initial emergency care. However, he now needs continued specialized treatment and monitoring to give him the best chance at a normal life. Without this care, he faces the risk of developing cerebral palsy, epilepsy, developmental delays, or other lifelong disabilities.
The Urgent Need
Baby Elmah requires:
- Continued intensive care unit monitoring
- Specialized neurological assessments
- Possible therapeutic hypothermia (cooling therapy)
- Early intervention therapies
- Medication to prevent seizures
The total cost of this life-saving treatment is $45,000 – an impossible sum for Elmah's parents, who have already exhausted their savings on the initial emergency care.
About Elmah's Family
Elmah is the first child of Amina and Khalid. They had been eagerly preparing for his arrival for months, saving every penny they could for their new family. Khalid works as a construction worker, and Amina was employed as a seamstress before her pregnancy. They never imagined their joy would turn to such fear and desperation so quickly.
"We just want our son to have a chance at a normal life," says Amina, cradling her newborn. "Every day we see him struggling to breathe properly, having small seizures... it breaks our hearts that we cannot afford the treatment he needs."
